We’re Here to Support You

At My Sisters’ Place, we practice victim-centered, trauma-informed advocacy. This means that we believe the individual who has experienced abuse is the expert in their situation, and they are in the position to decide what’s best for them. We also work to meet clients where they’re out, and do our best to recognize, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of trauma.

Trauma is an emotional response to a distressing and stressful event event like domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse, or natural disaster. Immediately after the trauma, individuals often experience shock and denial. In the long-term, they may also experience unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. While these feelings are normal, some people may have difficulty moving forward. MSP provides trauma-informed services to help clients become safe and self-sufficient.
